Feldkirchen in Carinthia, Berlin, Stockholm, 17 June 2024. According to a recent study by the market research company UScale, the Austrian charging solution specialist go-e is the leading provider in the home charging sector in Germany. The British market research institute LCP Delta came to the same conclusion in a separate study, according to which charging stations from go-e were the most frequently installed in single-family homes in Germany last year. In Europe's largest car market, one in seven electric cars is already charged at home with a go-e wallbox. The smart charging solutions from Austria impress users above all with their quality and ease of use. This has now been confirmed by the study with the highest measured recommendation rate of all wallbox manufacturers: go-e customers are also pleased to recommend go-e charging stations to their friends and acquaintances.
During Europe's most important trade fair for charging infrastructure and electromobility, the manufacturer will be presenting the next generation of wallboxes in Munich from 19 to 21 June. It is specially designed to meet the needs of companies, company car drivers or multi-family houses.
Study shows: energy and mobility transition needs smart charging solutions
The results of the wallbox pricing study conducted in April 2024 by the Stuttgart-based institute UScale, in which 1,011 EV drivers were surveyed, confirm the success of go-e. The study shows that e-mobility has now reached the center of society in terms of long-distance and everyday suitability and that the demand for convenient charging solutions at home is steadily increasing.
E-mobility is a key driver for achieving the European climate targets. The sustainable energy transition requires smart charging solutions in particular so that consumers can charge their all-electric cars or plug-in hybrids as cheaply as possible and at the same time contribute to the stability of the electricity grids when millions of electric cars are charging at the same time. This is why go-e has focussed exclusively on the further development of smart charging solutions right from the very beginning. According to a market research study, the Austrian company is the market leader in home charging and an important player in the ramp-up of e-mobility. Independent tests, e.g. by ADAC, ÖAMTC, Stiftung Warentest, Auto Bild, electricar, Haus und Garten Test, or F.A.Z. Kaufkompass, have also confirmed the high product benefits for EV drivers.
Study results give a clear picture of the wallbox user
Dr Axel Sprenger, CEO and head of the study at UScale, explains: "61% of German electric car drivers currently live in a detached house and 49% of those surveyed have a PV system. The study has shown that the option of charging with excess PV has a particularly high product benefit. Of course, the price also plays a role. But depending on the product benefit, higher prices are also acceptable." Almost half of those surveyed drive more than 15,000 kilometres a year with electric vehicles. Almost a third charges almost every day. This also indicates that surplus electricity from the photovoltaic system is used for charging. Significantly more than half prefer to purchase the wallbox including installation. One of the most popular features is operating a charging station via an app.
New go-e wallbox generation with extended functions
In recent years, go-e has continued to develop its charging solutions. The next generation of go-e wallboxes contains all the proven, intelligent features, such as authorisation of the charging process using RFID, load balancing, PV surplus charging, or charging with dynamic electricity tariffs, i.e. automated charging when electricity prices are low.
In addition, the new wallbox offers a MID-compliant energy meter for correct billing of transaction costs, which will also enable measurement and calibration law-compliant charging in accordance with the German Measurement Act in the future. The new charging station is ISO 15118 V2X ready, i.e. prepared for bidirectional charging on the hardware side, as well as Plug&Charge ready. In addition to proven communication interfaces such as WiFi, it also offers a cellular or Ethernet connection. Management is possible via an app or backend system. The OCPP standard and open API interfaces enable integration into almost any third-party software, such as energy management or load balancing systems and billing solutions.
Susanne Palli, CEO of go-e, is confident: "With our existing smart mobile charging stations and stationary wallboxes, we have been able to impress customers and become the number 1 in the private sector. In the same way, professional users in both business and private target group segments will now be able to familiarise themselves with the advantages of the new model with legally compliant energy billing and use it as a high-quality charging solution with a top price-performance ratio."
New charging solution premieres at the Power2Drive trade fair in Munich
The Austrian manufacturer go-e will be presenting the new business wallbox called "go-e Charger PRO" to the public from 19 to 21 June 2024 in Munich during "The Smarter E" trade fair (Power2Drive exhibition area) at stand B6.220. For the first time in its history, go-e is also offering a variant with a permanently integrated charging cable. The manufacturer will also be providing information about the expansion of its Energy Management product line.
Charging solutions are becoming established in more and more European countries
In Austria, go-e has an even higher market share based on new registered EVs than in Germany. The big advantage in Austria is that company car drivers do not generally need a charging solution with MID-compliant meter. This is why many companies are already relying on the smart mobile charging solution from go-e, because it can be used easily and flexibly both in the company and at employees' homes.
With the new MID product version, the manufacturer is now expanding its portfolio with a professional and future-proof charging solution that fulfils the requirements and needs of all users in the business sector.
In 2023, the Austrian company also successfully gained a foothold in the Scandinavian markets as well as Turkey and expanded its three existing locations with an additional site in Stockholm.
