go-e Charger & Controller Integration in Home Assistant

Have you always wanted to know how to integrate the go-e Charger and go-e Controller into Home Assistant? In this article, we’ll explain exactly how it works.

Allows the playback of videos, that are hosted on youtube.com. By allowing this feature, you accept the privacy agreement of google.

1. Create a user in Home Assistant

First, you need to create a dedicated user in Home Assistant for the MQTT connection of the go-e Charger:

  1. Go to Settings > People.

  2. Click Users in the top right corner.

  3. Select Add user in the bottom right corner.

  4. Enter a display name, for example go-e Charger. The username will be applied automatically.

  5. Set a secure password and confirm it.

Note

You do not need to grant admin rights or local access. Simply save the user.

2. Configure the MQTT broker in Home Assistant

To enable communication between Home Assistant and the go-e Charger, you need the MQTT broker:

  1. Open Settings > Devices & services.

  2. Scroll all the way down and select MQTT.

  3. If MQTT is not installed yet, add it via the Add integration button.

  4. Then activate the Enable Home Assistant option.

  5. Disable the Read-only setting so that Home Assistant can also write data back.

3. Configure the go-e app

Now switch to the go-e app on your smartphone:

  1. Open the go-e app and navigate to the settings.

  2. Go to Connections > MQTT.

  3. In the MQTT configuration, you will find fields for:

    • URL / IP address

    • Username and password

Important note

  • Username and password: Enter exactly the details you created earlier for the user in Home Assistant.

  • Make sure the spaces between the entries are correct.

  • IP address of the MQTT broker: You can find it in Home Assistant under Settings > System > Network > IPv4 address.

  • Do not change or delete the port specification :1883. This is the default port for the MQTT broker.

4. Check the integration

Once everything has been entered correctly:

  • the connection error in the go-e app should disappear

  • The go-e Charger will then automatically appear as a new device in the Home Assistant overview.

5. Integrating the go-e Controller

If you also want to use a go-e Controller, the setup is identical. Simply repeat the steps above for the Controller.
