We're looking for a Head of R&D to help turn this vision into reality, working with our hardware and embedded software engineering teams in Berlin, our manufacturing team in Austria and sales and marketing across Europe to develop the next generation of EV charging products.

Your area of responsibility

  • Strategic development of the R&D department as a driver of future products and customer oriented solutions in e-mobility with R&D offices in Berlin and Graz
  • Take technical ownership for hardware and software engineering for go-e products and the related technology roadmap and architecture
  • Lead, grow and assess team leads and product experts and build a first class product team
  • Steer your teams to deliver holistic technical solutions that push the envelope
  • Facilitate definition and verification of technical requirements
  • Ensure delivery of engineering solutions on time and as specified
  • Shape our culture across the company to be more product-led, with strong customer obsession combined with business pragmatism as well as focus on team-building for efficient development cycles
  • Collaborate closely with product management and operational departments as well as external stakeholders in order to define and implement development processes and to understand and foresee market needs
  • Participate as part of the senior management team of the company helping shape the strategy and vision for the whole company, collaborating as equals with counterparts in sales, marketing, production, finance and other functions
  • Ensure continuous product and customer research that informs a profitable product and business strategy
  • Earn the trust of a highly technical engineering team split across two locations (Berlin and Graz), as well as other functions in Feldkirchen
  • Define and implement processes in your team, as well as with the rest of the company

It would be great if you have

  • 5+ Years of Leadership Experience – Proven ability to lead engineering and product teams in a professional setting
  • Track Record of Product Success – Experience launching hardware and software products and bringing them to market
  • Systems Engineering Expertise – Successfully led systems engineering projects through to certification
  • Embedded Systems Knowledge – Professional experience with embedded Linux and backend architectures
  • Digital Electronics Development – Expertise in designing and developing digital electronics architectures
  • Hardware Development Expertise - Experience designing, prototyping, and testing hardware solutions
  • Hardware Development Collaboration – Previous experience working closely with hardware development teams
  • Systems Thinking - Understanding how different hardware and software components interact in a system
  • Strong Communication & Collaboration - Ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting - Ability to diagnose issues, provide guidance, and support teams in overcoming challenges
  • Excitement to grow structures and processes in a young company
  • Fluency in English at minimum C1-Level
  • Fluency in German at minimum C1-Level

It would be even better if you have 

  • Technical understanding of development processes and constraints of hardware products and embedded systems
  • Technical understanding of modern software development practices
  • Experience in the field of EV charging solutions or IoT devices
  • Academic degree in software or electronics engineering
  • Experience with power electronics
  • Experience with the development of mechanical housings
